One of the things I've decided to do this year is start a blog. Given my current status of "funemployment", I couldn't think of a better time to start. I've spent the last two years after graduating from CalArts working as an assistant scenic designer/art director on various TV projects and most recently for Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour. Now I'm between projects and trying not to get too bored. After browsing hundreds of other people's blogs, I figured why not make my own? I'm always collecting images, scraps, articles, etc., that I think are inspiring and would love to share. I am also always working on some crazy project and thought this would be a good way to show off my ideas and perhaps help with my next goal, selling my products...
Here are some pictures of what I've been working on lately. I've been spinning yarn out of junk mail and then I use it to weave sheets that I turn into clutch purses. First I cut the mail into long strips then twist them into "yarn". To learn how to make your own yarn check out this tutorial.
Here are some finished sheets that I will cut down and turn into clutch purses. Pictures of the finished product to come...
Well, I guess this concludes my very first blog entry. I hope people will find this blog interesting and informative, that is, if anyone reads it ;)
hi there, happy to see a new fellow blogger...oh nice handicraft
ReplyDeleteHi Resa!
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with your yarn and your weaving!! John and Lisa told me to check out your blog. Seems we have some things in common! Keep up the blog. I want to see more of your projects.
